Independent variables: preoperative BCVA (logMAR) in the better eye, age, sex (coded as female 0, male 1), surgery year, ocular co-morbidity (coded as yes 1, no 0), surgical difficulty (coded as yes 1, no 0) and second-eye surgery (coded as yes 1, no 0)
  2. BCVA = best corrected visual acuity; logMAR = logarithm of the minimum angle of resolution; 95% CI = 95% confidence interval
  3. aOcular comorbidity includes age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and “other” sight-threatening ocular comorbidity
