Schematic of retinal blood supply. The capillary networks within the RNFL, GCL, IPL, INL and OPL perfuse the inner retina. However, according to a recent study using optical coherence tomography [8], since there are no vessels in the outer retina, choroidal vessels perfuse this region through diffusion.
